National Science Foundation Technical Assistance Grant

LA Harbor College is the recent recipient of a three-year highly competitive Kickstarter Technical Assistance grant funded through the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Kickstarter supports LAHC STEM planning, research concept develpment, grant proposal and submission for NSF funding opportuntities.

LAHC STEM Pathway Goals

  1. Demonstrate value of Supplemental Instruction (SI) on student persistence and success in math and science classes

  2. Demonstrate the impact on students of work-based learning experiences – internships, externships, clinics – and on increasing and improving industry engagement with the college

  3. Establish informal student communities such as STEM Center, study groups, project based activities, etc., that strengthen social engagement and acclimation to the college, career development student persistence an success in STEM programs

  4. Strengthen student recruitment pipeline through comprehensive outreach strategies
