Mission:

The Adaptive Kinesiology program serves the ever-changing needs of the community’s diverse special needs population. As for people with special needs the program is designed to ensures a progressive exercise therapy and a safe environment by promoting skills and activities for lifetime fitness, wellness, mobility and quality of life.

Authorization for Participation: 

Individuals with disabilities need a medical prescription from a physician to participate in Adaptive Kinesiology classes and programs. Form is provided by the instructor.

Courses Offered:

KIN. 045 Adapted Fitness

Individualized exercise program covering basic elements of physical fitness and training principals.

KIN. 046 Adapted Strength Training

Emphasis placed on strength training techniques

KIN. 048 Adapted Aerobics

Develop muscular and cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility.

KIN. 049 Adapted Cardiovascular Fitness

Development of cardiovascular endurance through the use of bicycle erometers, treadmills and hand cranks.

KIN. 050 Adapted Exercises for Back Disorders

Individualized routine including stretching, resistive exercise and cardiovascular fitness.

KIN. 051 Adapted Sports and Games

Designed to develop gross motor skills and facilitate participation in life-long activities; designed to enhance self-esteem and social interaction.
