  1. If you’ve received a citation you must either pay or contest it within 21 calendar days (weekends included) from the date of receipt. If you pay the citation, you may not contest it. If you contest the citation, do not pay it until you have received the decision in the mail.
  2. You may contest a citation by completing an Administrative Review form. Administrative Review forms are available in the Sheriff’s Department located in the southeast corner of the P.E. Wellness building. You must complete and return the form within 21 days from the date of your citation. Please bring in your citation, permits, and any other documents to our office to be used in considering your citation for dismissal. Your review will take approximately 7 to 10 business days to process and your decision will be mailed to you.
  3. If you disagree with the decision made on your Administrative Review you may continue your dispute by filing an Administrative Hearing form. Administrative Hearing forms are also available in the Sheriff’s Department located in southeast corner of the P.E. Wellness building. You may not file an Administrative Hearing unless an Administrative Review has been previously filed and decided upon. When a request for a hearing is filed you must post bail in the amount of your citation. Bails are accepted in form of check or money order only. NO CASH. Your check/money order will be held in our office and will not be processed until after your hearing is held. An appointment for a hearing will not be given unless all of the above documents have been received. Hearings must be held within 60 days from the date of your citation.

  • Hearings are held in our department once a month on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

  • A hearing is your opportunity to prove your case to the hearing officer why you feel your ticket is wrong and why you believe your citation should be dismissed.

  • The hearing officer’s decision is based solely on your testimony and the evidence you present as well as the law. There will not be any sheriff or college personnel present at the hearing.

  • It is very important that you make your hearing as no shows will be automatically denied and will not be rescheduled.

  • If the hearing officer denies your citation you will receive the decision within 7 to 10 business days and your check/money order will be mailed for processing of your citation. If the hearing officer dismisses your citation, you will receive the decision along with your check/money order within 7 to 10 business days.
