The purpose of the new student orientation is to perform student of the college\'s programs, services, facilities, academic expectations and institutional procedures. All new students attending Harbor College for the first time are advised to:
| Attend the new student orientation OR |
| View the on-line orientation, AND |
| Take the college assessment tests prior to registration. |
Orientation sessions are offered at a variety of times and last for three and one half hours. The program is conducted by counselors and features an assessment of English and mathematics skills and a video presentation as well as a question-and-answer period. Students shall make an appointment for an orientation session at the Admissions and Records Office, at the Assessment Center, or by calling (310)233-4072.
Those who have earned the Associate degree or a higher degree may have this requirement waived by showing a copy of a transcript to a counselor. Further information may be obtained at the Information Desk in the lobby of the Administration building.
PLEASE NOTE:
By viewing the following On-Line Orientation (approximately 30-45 minutes) and successfully completing the quiz at the end, you will be exempt from the L.A. Harbor on-campus orientation after taking the Assessment/Placement test.
