Athletics At Harbor College, athletics is a viable part of the academic success of our students with a student-athlete transfer rate that is outstanding. The college has a strong tradition in athletics and continues to increase its program offerings. Harbor College sponsors women’s teams in basketball, soccer, and volleyball, and men’s teams in baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. Student-athletes at Harbor College are provided with strength and conditioning programs needed to obtain maximum athletic performance through its strength lab and an athletic training room to provide rehabilitation, prevention and education of athletic injuries. The Job Placement and Training Center assists students and the members of the community with their employment needs. The center lists fulltime and part-time, permanent and temporary job referrals. In addition, job seekers may attend seminars and workshops on a variety of job related topics, such as resume preparation and interviewing skills. The LAHC Child Development Center was established to offer child care services to students with preschool-aged children. The center has an extensive parent education program. Parents are involved in the education of their children through their participation in the program. Enrollment in the Child Development Program is a learning experience for both the children and their parents. Children must qualify for the State Preschool Grant Program, both by age and income. First priority is given to children who are four years of age. with higher priority going to older three-year-olds. If there are no income and age eligible children on the priority list, three and four year old children who are not income eligible may be enrolled. Fees for this service are based on financial need and range from no cost to $2.00 per hour. Child Development Center website (link)
Extension Programs & Carla Muldoon Manager
The Office of Community Services and Continuing Education's primary purpose is to meet the personal, career, and professional development needs of the community by providing continuing non-credit education in an on-going program of classes, workshops, and seminars. The Extension Program also offers Traffic School, a large year-round program for children in after school and weekend formats, non-credit career certificate programs and customized training.
