Matriculation Orientation: 3. Admissions & Records
(310) 233-4090
The Admissions and Records staff are part of the Student Success Team. They will process your admissions application, give you a Student Identification Number (ID), and give you a date to register for your classes. The Admissions and Records Office is also the place where you can request your transcript, get verification of enrollment, process add and drop requests, and file petitions. You will know the Student Success Team members on campus by their distinctive blue or yellow tee shirts! They are here to help.

Student Success Team
Prior to registration, new matriculating students who have submitted an application are required to make an appointment to take assessment test, if they have not been assessed at another college, or taken prerequisite coursework at another college.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
An applicant must fulfill the following requirements before being considered for admission to Los Angeles Harbor College:
|
File an application for admission in person or online. |
|
Submit a transcript of high school credits and of all previous college work. No student who has been disqualified from attending another institution for reasons of conduct may enroll at Harbor College. An exception to this policy may be permitted after one or more semesters of time have elapsed since the student was disqualified. Such an exception will be determined by the Dean of Admissions and Records. |
Application for admission deadline: The last date to submit an application for regular admission is the Friday before the first day of classes for the semester. Consult the admissions information in the Schedule of Classes for the exact dates. Late application requests will be processed after the regular admissions have been honored.
REGISTRATION
There are three forms available to register for class:
|
Internet – Students may register on the Internet through the LAHC website www.lahc.edu. |
|
Phone – (Student Telephone Enrollment Program) STEP system. Follow the instructions in the schedule of classes on the page titled “Student Telephone Enrollment Program”. |
|
In Person - Students should present a “Course Request Card” to the Registration Office, AD 138. This process can only be done during the walk-in registration period (for dates and times, please check the Academic Calendar located on the inside front cover of the class schedule) |
Internet and phone registration are earlier than in-person registration.
The earlier you register the more likely you are to get the classes you want!
If you need a computer to register, you may go to the Library, the LAC, the Appointment Center (lobby of the Admin. Bldg.), or the Career Center (Admin. Bldg. Rm. 127)
COURSE REQUEST CARD
The Course Request Card is used for walk-in registration only. You may obtain one at the Information Desk, in the lobby of Administration Building. List the classes you want to take and submit the Course Request Card to the Registration Office in AD 138.
ADD PERMIT CARD
An Add Permit is required once school has started. Adding to a class after school has started is at the discretion of the instructor. Go to the class you want to add, at the time the class is scheduled to meet, and ask the instructor for an "Add Permit Card".
Attn: Make sure to submit all your add permits to the Registration Office.
Some instructors accept students later, than others. Ideally, you will have enrolled in all of your classes before school starts. In other words, don’t wait until the last minute!
DROP CARD
Dropping a class - "It is the student’s responsibility to adhere to the deadline dates listed on the inside front cover of the current Schedule of Classes".
THREE WAYS TO DROP A CLASS
|
You may drop classes on the Internet by the deadline at www.lahc.edu. |
