Welcome and thank you for selecting Los Angeles Harbor College as part of your educational experience. Los Angeles Harbor College, where students come first, is committed to student success by providing you with the best student services available.

As a new student at Los Angeles Harbor College, it is important that you follow and complete the student success steps from start to finish. Your chances for academic success depend greatly on following these steps. You are a matriculating student if you plan to earn a certificate or a degree, or plan to transfer to a university.

Matriculation is a process that brings the college and students into an agreement to realize their educational goals through the college\'s established programs, policies and requirements. It requires commitment of both the student and the college.

The College provides to all admitted students:

An admission process

Orientation to the college, its resources and programs

Assessment

Advising and counseling

Student progress follow-up

Student Rights and Responsibilities:

A student at Harbor College is eligible to enroll in any course for which he or she meets established prerequisites.

The student is required to express at least a broad educational intent upon admission, participate in counseling, diligently attend class, complete course work and maintain progress towards an educational plan.

Students should see a counselor to develop a Student Educational Plan (SEP). This plan will outline what courses you need to meet your educational goal.

The student needs to identify a specific educational goal after completion of 15 units of degree-applicable credit course work.

Follow the steps:

  1. Submit an application

  2. Assessment and orientation

  3. Determine your course load

  4. Register for classes

  5. Pay fees

  6. Get Student ID

You will turn in your admissions application to the Admissions Office. Applications are free. You may apply in person, or online at http://www.lacolleges.net/admissions. You may sign up for Assessment either at the Admissions Office when you apply, at the Appointment Center, or at the Assessment Center.
