There are at least 14 factors which go into making up a successful college career: Motivation, Planning Memory, Reading, Notes, Tests, Thinking, Communicating, Diversity, Technology, Money, Health, Purpose and Relationships. We will be focusing on having good relationships with your instructors in this Workshop. Come learn about ways to have constructive, positive, successful relationships with all your teachers.
Assertive Skills Training

Learn the difference between assertion and aggression. Assertiveness is the ability to communicate honestly and appropriately without hurting anyone else. It is the ability to say “no” to protect your own time and your own needs. Be a doormat no more! In this workshop you will get the opportunity to practice different challenging situations and get support for responding in appropriately self-protective ways. Transform your relationships with family, co-workers, and friends. A whole new world will open up as you learn assertive skills, setting boundaries with significant others and freeing yourself to live the life you want. Creating and staying on a budget, using the new financial aid debit card wisely, saving and shopping for bargains are some key aspects of “financial literacy” and will be the focus of this workshop. Get control over your finances, stay out of debt, and come learn the basics.

Body & Self Image

Our culture puts a lot of pressure on women and increasingly on men to live up to a very specific body type. Anyone who deviates from this “norm” experiences discrimination and distain. Fat is the last acceptable prejudice. Not only that, but how you feel about your body can contribute strongly to how you feel about and treat yourself. Come to this workshop to learn more about how you can learn to love your body at any size, feel good about yourself and most important be healthy at any size!
Preparing for the Holidays: Dealing with Difficult Family Members,

So often we dread the holidays when we have to confront family with whom we’ve had conflict in the past or with whom we anticipate conflict: an uncle who drinks too much, a neglectful mother, an estranged sibling…so many reasons for relationship breakdowns. Come to this workshop for specific ideas on how to work with yourself and your relationships, know your limits and how to set them, and gain the inner peace that comes from meaningful forgiveness and reconciliation.
