Applicant must be attending a community college, university, or graduate school. Students must register for the scholarship competition and answer the questions that are emailed to the student. The student will receive a score at the end of each round. Student receiving the highest score will be awarded a scholarship.

Jeannette Rankin Foundation 2009 Scholarship

 

The Jeanette Rankin Foundation been awarding scholarships to low-income adult women who have a vision of how a college education will benefit themselves, their families, and their communities.

Who is eligible?

  • WOMEN who are U.S. citizens and at least 35 years of age as of March 1, 2009

  • WOMEN who are enrolled in an accredited college for the Fall 2009 term and pursuing a technical or vocational education, an AA degree, or a first bachelor's degree

  • WOMEN who are low income according to the government guidelines found on the application and/or website

2008-2009 Real Estate Endowment Fund Scholarship

 

This scholarship opportunity is open for Real Estate Education Majors only

Applicants must

  • be enrolled in and complete 6 units of Real Estate classes for each semester funded. ( A General accounting class, a Business Law class and a General Economics class shall be considered as Real Estate courses in addition to those specifically labeled by the college as Real Estate courses)

  • satisfactorily complete at least one 3 unit college course in Real Estate with a grade of C (2.0) or higher prior to applying.

  • have a minimum 2.0 cumulative G.P.A.

  • have financial need or meet income criteria

FUNDING IS LIMITED.  SUBMIT APPLICATIONS EARLY!

Bill Coggins Community Services Leadership Award

Sponsored by the Kaiser Permanente Watts Counseling & Learning Center, this award is given to students who have performed exemplary community service in Los Angeles County.

Eligible students:

  • demonstrate a commitment to community service leadership within Los Angeles County

  • can document voluntary community service completed between January  2007 and December 2008

  • are enrolled in a community college/four year college, university or vocational/technical school with a current minimum 2.5 GPA

Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement and two (2) letters of recommendation

    MARINE CORPS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION, INC.

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance to sons and daughters of current or former United States Marines in their pursuit of higher education.

Applicants must be:

1.  The son/daughter of one of the following:

  • Active duty or reserve U.S. Marine

  • U.S. Marine who has received an honorable discharge, medical discharge, or was killed while serving

  • Active duty or reserve U.S. Navy Corpsman who is serving, or has served with the U.S. Marine Corps

2.  Registered as a continuing undergraduate student at an accredited college   with a minimum gpa of 2.0

3.  From families with a maximum adjusted gross income of $77,000 or less

Abbott & Fenner Scholarship

Abbott & Fenner are committed to continuing efforts at helping those who have the desire and ambition to succeed.


Eligible applicants:

  • all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution between the ages of 16 and 30 (high school juniors and seniors  qualify as well)

To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on one of the two topics below in less than 1,000 words.

  • If you could have lunch with any famous person, either living or dead, whom would you choose and why?  Describe your conversation at lunch.

  • When you look back on your life in thirty years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful?
