EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs Instructor of the Year Award Voting
Each year, we ask students from the EOPS, CARE, and CalWORKs programs to nominate their favorite instructor to receive our Instructor of the Year award. This is your chance to identify and gain recognition for the instructor who has had the most impact on your educational experience at Harbor College. To vote, please visit the link below:
If you will be graduating this spring, congratulations! As a participant in the EOPS program, there are a few benefits you are entitled to. First, the EOPS program will pay for your cap and gown to be worn during the college’s commencement ceremony. Additionally, you will be invited to attend a recognition event for graduating and honors students. Please contact the EOPS Office to sign up for these benefits and receive more information.
The primary means of communication between Harbor College (including the EOPS/CARE program) and students is via your student email account. Please make sure that you are checking this email account on a regular basis so you don't miss important information.

EOPS Contact Availability
State budget reductions have severely limited the amount of counseling hours that we can make available to students each semester. This, in turn, has affected the availability of open appointment slots with counselors throughout the semester as they tend to fill up quickly. We understand this creates a burden on students as they attempt to juggle busy schedules and still meet their mandated contact requirements for the EOPS program.
We make every effort to offer enough appointments for all students. This means that we have to offer some appointments as group sessions. These group sessions do count as contacts for the semester.
If you attempt to schedule an appointment and are told that there are no available openings, please continue to check back with us on a regular basis as we will eventually make new appointments available.
Also, in an effort to offer as many appointments as possible, we have implemented a new policy: if you are late for your scheduled appointment one of two things may happen, either you may forfeit that appointment to a waiting student, or we may inform you that your appointment is being converted to a drop-in appointment and it won't count as one of your contacts for the semester.
EOPS students are required to attend at least one workshop each semester and submit verification of attendance to the EOPS Office. Click here to download the verification form.
EOPS is now offering workshops as part of a collection of workshops being presented by Student Services. Please click this workshop link and scroll to the bottom of the page to see the current offering of workshops.
Each Friday, one of the highly trained and skilled interns from the Life Skills Center is available to meet with you if you are in need of personal counseling. This is an exclusive service for EOPS students. Please contact the EOPS Office for more information.
Progress reports are due at the time of your second contact. Click here to download the progress report form.
If you have a progress report form from another program, we will accept it in the place of our form.
Tutoring is available for EOPS students for subjects including Math, English, Science, Social Science, and Computer Technology. Please inquire with the EOPS Office for specific courses and to schedule an appointment with a tutor.
The EOPS Lab is open to EOPS students to do homework, write reports, conduct research, login to online classes, and any other school-related computer activities. Lab time can be scheduled in the EOPS Office.
To print any materials in the EOPS Lab you are required to bring your own paper.
