FACULTY
HIRING OPEN FORUM
Dr. Joiner, as FHPC Chair, invited any comments relative to hiring
priorities that attendees at the meeting would like to make. Mr.
Barakat asked how FHPC recommendations can be given greater force. Mr.
Stanbery responded that as soon as the college master plan is completed,
with the college president's full participation through CPC and
including an academic affairs cluster plan duly reflecting FHPC
prioritizations, the college as a whole should find the plan fully
credible, making departures from it difficult to justify and
correspondingly rare. The Senate was reminded that, according to the
established process, Dr. Spink is entitled to depart from FHPC
recommendations but must file a written justification of the departure,
which can be formally appealed.
