Administrative Report
Mr. Rosas informed the Senate that our teacher prep academy has been
designated a California Distinguished School, and breifed the Senate on
the press event to be held honoring the academy. He also alerted the
Senate to the latest developments with Prop A/AA.
ITEMS/MOTIONS NOTICED FOR ACTION APRIL 19
FHPC Appeals Panel
Pursuant to the resolution adopted at the last meeting,
there was nanimous consent to designate Ms. Watkins as the Senate
representative on the panel in place of Ms. J. Smith, already serving in
her capacity as FHPC chair.
Curriculum Approvals
Proposed approval of three CAOT courses (CAOT 0821, 086,
and 110) and of Etudes as the official teaching platform at the college
was noticed for action at the next meeting.
COMMENTS
ON DISTRIBUTED REPORTS/NOTICES/COMMITTEE MINUTES
Curriculum
Ms. Fasteau drew the attention of the Senate to the handout she
distributed giving the CAOT courses noticed for approval at the next
meeting and listing five courses currently under review. She also
reported on the Etudes proposal and the submission of Proposed New
Program Requests (PNPRs) in Culinary Arts, Business, Process Plant
Technology, and Process Instrumentation and Controls.
Professional Concerns
Mr. Wood read several quotations forwarded from Ms. Parker for costs for
the proposed retirees' luncheon being held prior to graduation.
MSU (Fasteau/ Young) to accept the quotation from 22nd
St. Landing.
Elections Committee
Ms. Campbell reported that the ballots for the election of Senate
officers have been distributed; must be cast as provided by Monday,
April 23; and will be counted the following day.
Work Environment Committee
Mr. Young reminded the Senate of the lock-down drill scheduled for May
16 at approximately 9:10, which will be a "hot topics" agenda item on
May 7. Ms. A. Smith pointed out that the Nursing Building is not
currently equipped to treat real-life patients. Mr. Young assured the
Senate that needed supplies would be externally provided. He also
highlighted provisions in our current emergency plan that would come
into play in the event of a crisis such as the one in Virginia.
Prop A/AA
Mr. McKenzie announced that all faculty slated to teach in the Northeast
Academic Building should check the chair-types in the President's
Conference Room and notify the college secretary which type they would
prefer for their new offices. |
