DR. JAMES SITTERLY
Jim Sitterly has played the violin since he was five years old. His love of music has taken him all over the world in study and performance.
He has performed as soloist, orchestra member, concertmaster, conductor, arranger, producer and composer. His academic study of the violin has earned him  BA, BM, MM, and DMA degrees in music. He is on the faculty at Harbor College where he teaches Music Appreciation and Jazz History. He also teaches Band at Westland School and taught Music at Peninsula Montessori for 6 years.
In addition to violin, Dr. Sitterly also spends time writing poetry and prose and studies the works of Chaucer, Rumi, Shakespeare and the TAO.
He is the concertmaster/conductor/solo violinist for John Tesh and has performed over 1000 concerts with him in this capacity. He has recorded 10 CD's with Mr. Tesh and appeared in six of his DVDs which have been featured on PBS.
Dr. Sitterly is the concertmaster of the SouthCentral Chamber Orchestra, a multi-ethnic organization which records for such luminaries as Macy Grey, Lucy Pearl, Tribe Called Quest, Qtip, Rafael Shadiq, Stevie Wonder, MaryMary, Andre 3000, Fatty Koo  and Lewis Farrikhan.
Dr. Sitterly is the solo violinist for Benise, the Nuevo Flamenco inspired pop group which appears on PBS and tours throughout the USA and Europe.
As a solo Jazz violinist Sitterly has recorded and performed extensively with Maude Maggart, The HOT CLUB, Mason Williams, Little Emo, Sam Sorrenson, Tarzan Swing Band, Los Angeles Jazz Orchestra and Marston Smith.
Sitterly is the ubiquitous fiddler featured on the radio and TV ads of Albertson's, Nike, And Hilton Hotels.
Dr. Sitterly performs a violin recital each semester at Harbor College featuring his compositions and masterpieces of the classical violin repertoire.
