M.B. Gordy received his Bachelor's degree from Glassboro State College and his master's degree from California Institute of the Arts with extensive study of ethnic percussion.

He has been working as a freelance musician and producer in the L.A. area for many years, playing on numerous film scores including The Crow, Stigmata, the Siege, Negotiator, Titan AE, Happy Texas, Steal This Movie, (the Abbie Hoffman Story), Heartbreakers, Scream 2 & 3,Shipping News, The First 20 Million, Collateral Damage, Scary Movie, Eight Legged Freaks, Not Another Teen Movie, Wonder Boys, Country Bears, Scorpion King, Men in Black II, High Crimes, Spider Man, Red Dragon, Terminator 3, X-Men II, and Blade 2 to name only a few. Television credits include King of the Hill, King of Queens, Any Day Now, The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, American Dreams, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel and many more.

He has performed with the LA Philharmonic, The National Symphony, The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, The Long Beach Opera, and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Pop and Rock credits include Frank Zappa, Three Dog Night, John Tesh, Loggins and Messina, Wilco, Glenn Yarbrough and Rhapsody in Taps, Freeflight, Tribe 1, Andrea Marcovicci, Lion King and many others.

M.B's recording credits include Bill Withers, Green Day, Anna Visi, REO Speedwagon, Phillip Keveren, Jaguares, Neil Diamond, Juan Gabriel, Kenny Latimore, George Kahn, Brandi, and Guns and Roses to name only a few. He has had the fortune of working with noted producers, Peter Asher, Don Was, Mat Wallace and Rob Cavallo. He is formerly a percussionist with the Doobie Brothers and also freelances in the Los Angeles area.

M.B. is currently endorsed by Yamaha Drums, Remo, Vic Firth, Toca, Pork Pie Percussion And Paiste. For the past18 years he has also been involved with the Yamaha Education Division as a clinician and education consultant.
