I. Approval of Agenda
The agenda was accepted as presented. D. Ching/S. Steele
II. Review Minutes
The minutes for May 25, 2005 were reviewed.
III. Budget Report
Dr. Davis accepted a position at a university in Arizona and Dr. Tomlinson has been selected as the interim Vice President of Administrative Services for six months. The District Office has recently provided the quarterly report. SFP salaries are being charged to program 100 and have increased the deficit. This will be corrected. The District Office has asked the campus to grow by 8%. Growth is to be gained through the late start classes, and winter and summer inter-sessions. The 9-week late start classes begin October 24. The new SARS system allowed us to call all currently enrolled students about the late start classes. It was suggested classes be promoted with a banner outside ASO and on the electronic sign.
IV. Prop A/AA Projects
CORE was updated on October 18 on the status of the various projects:
· Loop Road – expected to open soon after city approval to strip roadway.
· Sheriff’s Station – 95% complete. The alarm system needs to be repaired. In the interim the college has been charged an additional sheriff expense for coverage.
· Women’s Team Room – the renovations are complete and need only the lockers.
· Athletic field – turf is being installed and should be complete mid-December.
· New bleachers, track and concession stand – will rent the track to other schools at an estimated $500+ per day.
· ASO has purchased an electronic scoreboard. The income generated from advertising on the board will defray its cost and in the future, the income will be shared with athletics.
· Renovation projects in Fine Arts, Nursing, Theater/Speech – Anticipated completion date January 6, 2006. District policy requires bids go to the lowest bidder. Pinnacle One has assigned a person to oversee PAC WEST and the college is working with the contractor to make the projects flow more smoothly. We are behind in demolishing Liberal Arts which puts construction of the NE Academic and Student Services buildings back. CORE is looking at leasing trailer classrooms. The chiller is on campus.
· Child Development Center – plans for the building has returned to a solid building versus trailers.
· CORE visited the downtown showroom and had a chance to look at the various furniture styles that will be available for the new buildings.
· Demolition of Liberal Arts is scheduled for March 2006. Currently, the campus is being tested for methane gas. There is none in the NE location.
· There is a possible option to purchase the golf range. General Counsel is looking at the possibility of a conference center/golf range arrangement.
V. Accreditation Overview
As a whole, all corrections to the document are to be received by the end of October with a finished product the end of November. The document would then be mailed to the accreditation team in December. The accreditation visit is in March. Darlene Pachaco acted as a consultant and reviewed the document suggesting that student services rewrite portions to include all the services available to students.
VI. Program Review
All Student Service areas need to constantly revisit and update their program reviews. There has been some discussion on SLO’s in various areas i.e. SLO’s in student services vs. academic affairs; classroom instruction vs. tutoring. There are some common SLO’s for the college and specific ones in courses. The final program reviews will be submitted to Abbie and then unit plans will be designed/revised.
