Public Comment

          Ms. Watkins reminded the Senate of the importance of establishing a "hard link" between learning communities and the relevant aspects of the scheduling and enrollment process.  The administrators present assured the Senate that all concerns will be resolved. 

 

Consent Items

          Unanimous consent to: 

          - designate Ellen Joiner as the Senate's representative on the evalution committee for the new Developmental Communications probationary postion;

          - designate Ana Escandon as the the Honors Program Advisor for the college;

          - refer the Senate's motion of September3 requesting a financial accounting for all bond construction costs to CPC

 

ITEMS/MOTIONS FOR ACTION SEPTEMBER 17

          Attendance Policy during Possible Flu Pandemic

            Dr. Humphreys motivated the proposed resolution, and in response to an inquiry from Mr. Glover, pointed out that the resolution is not self-executing, and conformance with it will require implementing actions by the Academic Senate, Board of Trustees, Faculty Guild, and other parties.  Ms. Saxton and Mr. Young expressed concerns respectively involving nursing faculty and implications for faculty attendance.  Ms. Thomas-Spiegel suggested review of the proposal by APPC.  Ms.J. Smith commended Dr. Humphreys for focusing attention on the issue, and emphasized the importance of acting promptly.  Unanimous consent to refer the proposal to a faculty forum, APPC, the Work Environment Committee,and the District Academic Senate Executive Committe, for prompt action by CPC [see addendum].

          Graduation Date

            Unanimous consent to scheduling this spring's graduation ceremony on the final Tuesday of the semester.

          Senate Representation on College Committees

            Unanimous consent to William Heffern and ____ to the Staff Development Committee and William Heffern to the Staffing Committe.
