Call to order and approval of agenda

Ms. J. Smith was congratulated on her birthday, and ice cream and cake were served, and at the conclusion of the meeting, Ms. McMurray's table leg was returned to her gift-wrapped by Mr. Wood.

Curriculum Approvals

Mr. McKenzie drew the Senate's attention to the attachment itemizing the courses and programs noticed for approval at the last meeting. It was noted that three of the items will have to be deleted at least for the time being, that another should be retitled, and that one should be added. The state will need to approve these degrees once the Senate has acted. Unanimous consent to approve the noticed list with the adjustments agreed upon, to read as follows:

Addition of existing district courses

Speech 151 – Small Group Communication – 3 hrs lec, 3 units

Governance and Policies Review

Ms. J. Smith emphasized that a timeline for this over-all review should be included as part of the preparation of the accreditation mid-term report. Later in the meeting she relayed Mr. Young's agreement that the Work Environment/ Facilities Committee will function as two separate committees meeting back-to-back rather than as a single committee.

Collegewide ILOs

Unanimous consent to retain the first category to read ‘Effective Communication Skills’; to retitle the second category to read 'Numeracy, Criticial Thinking and Problem Solving'; the third category to read 'Cultural Diversity, Global Interdependence and Aesthetics'; the fourth category to read 'Personal, Professional and Civic Responsibility'; and the fifth category to read 'Technological Competence'.

Unanimous consent approve the major categories as amended as a basis for subsequent definitions of their content.
