Treasurer's Report

          Mr. Glover reported a current balance of $999.31.  Ms. J. Smith suggested placing the question of increasing faculty dues on the agenda for our next regular meeting.

         

Consent Items

          Follow-Up on Mail Room Resolution

          Unanimous consent to the appointment of a 3-person fact-finding committee to assess whether to bring a resolution to the next CPC meeting authorizing a new position for the clerical pool.  Ms. J. Smith, Mr. Wood, and Ms. McMurray will comprise the committee.

          Campus activities and faculty/staff supervision

          Unanimous consent to authorize the Senate president to work with the ASO to secure adequate supervision of student events.

          Senate Election Results

          Unanimous consent to confirm the results of the Senate elections as determined by the Elections Committee, with the officers elected to serve for two years beginning July 1, 2009:  President, June Smith; Vice President, Pam Watkins; Recording Secretary, Jim Stanbery; Corresponding Secretary, Susan McMurray; Treasurer, Len Glover.

         

ITEMS/MOTIONS FOR ACTION MAY 7

          FHPC Manual Revisions

            Unanimous consent to approve the revisions as previously noticed and previously e-mailed campus-wide.

          Curriculum Approvals

            Unanimous consent to each category of actions previously noticed by the Curriculum Committee for Senate action [previously e-mailed campus-wide].

          The policy motions for which specific language was provided too late for present action did stimulate due discussion and were noticed for Senate action on May 21, with the phrasing of the language on stacked classes to be given further consideration by the Curriculum Committee in the meanwhile.

          Spring Division Senatorial Selections

            Unanimous consent to request all divisions to select senators and Senate committee representatives for the coming academic year this spring and to provide these names to the Senate president by June 7.

          Classroom Maintenance and Etiquette

            After some discussion there was Unanimous consent to amend the motion as noticed with one change and to adopt the resolution as amended and to provide laminated copies of it as Senate policy for posting in all classrooms [original language previously  e-mailed campus-wide].

          Staff Development Committee Policy and Procedure Manual

            Mr. Wood drew the Senate's atttention to the proposed adjustments in two sections of the manual, one incorporating the change in diversity fund policy already authorized.  Unanimous consent to adopt the changes in the manual [previously e-mailed campus-wide].

 

COMMENTS ON DISTRIBUTED REPORTS/NOTICES/COMMITTEE MINUTES

          Special Personnel Concerns Committee

            Ms. Park distributed a summary of possible locations for the June retirees' function. Unanimous consent to schedule the function for Simon's Restaurant.

          DAS/SAS

          Ms. Watkins reported on several online-related actions and activities at the Spring Plenary Sessions of the State Academic Senate, the essentials of which have been e-mailed campuswide, briefly displayed by Ms. J. Smith by electronic projection.  Ms. Watkins also relayed a new resolution from the District E-PAC disallowing "eminence" as a sole criteria for teaching eligibility.
