I.
Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 12: 25 P.M.
Adoption of Agenda: The agenda was approved with the following changes:

Approval of Minutes: With no objections, the minutes of October 19, 2000 were approved.

It was recommended that Senators who have excused absences contact the Secretary and have it indicated as so on the minutes. (Smith)
Treasurer’s
Report: (Glover) The Treasurer reported that the current
balance in the treasury is $2317.63.
II.
Special Orders:
A. Social
Committee (Parker)
In order for her to send cards to faculty members, senators need to forward information to the Social Committee Chair (Joyce Parker).
There will be a memorial service for James Reed on November 9. It was recommended that the Senate make a donation to his memory.
Motion:
The Academic Senate will contribute $100.00 in the memory of James Reed.

B. Facilities
Priorities Update
The facilities priority list for the year 2001 bonds projects was distributed. It was noted that the GC Building has disappeared from the list.

Senate fall plenary report (Stanbery, Shue, Smith)
A recap of the Fall 2000 Academic Senate Resolutions was distributed and explained by Beverly Shue.
It was recommended that more senators attend these state meetings.

B. Text book Policy
Motion:
The Academic Senate supports the ASO Senate’s request that active
implementation of the textbook policy be undertaken. (M/S Hollis/McMurray)
Discussion indicated that the Senate did not move approval of the entire 4 page document submitted by the ASO(see minutes of Jan 20, 2000).
Motion:
To withdraw the previous motion.

The makers of the motion, Hollis and McMurray, will research this matter and report back to the Senate at the Nov. 16, 2000 meeting.
C. FHPC
Action:
Motion: The Academic
Senate will forward to the college president the committee’s listing of the 17
positions ranked, with justifications for filling the top ten rated positions.

It was recommended that the list be re-numbered to indicate positions that tied.
D. Special Election for New PAC Representatives:
Motion:
Be it resolved that the Harbor College Academic Senate form an elections
committee to elect new PAC representatives to serve for the remainder of the
academic year 2000 –2001, elections to be held in time to report to the Senate
by the Dec 7 meeting.

Faculty Hiring Priorities
list will be renumbered and forwarded to the College President.
B. PFE
(Guertin/Keller)
Over 50 proposals were submitted. A tallied list has been created and further work on the proposals is being conducted.
C. Curriculum
(McKenzie)
Each Division is represented on the Curriculum Committee. These representatives are responsible to attend the meetings (1st Tuesday of each month) and report back to the Divisions.
