Administrative Report
The sprinkler situation in the Tech Building has been addressed.
Dr. Tomlinson conveyed the importance to the bookstore of orders being filed on time, a potential $90,000 savings each year.
Dr. Spink announced that the accreditation visit is November 5. She also distributed the proposed listing of her goals for the year for Senate discussion at our next meeting.
ASO Report
Ms. Richards summarized an impressive list of current ASO activities, referring all senators to the ASO webpage where these are detailed.

Unanimous consent to designate Ms. McMurray as the Senate's representative on the LAC Program Review Committee.
Unanimous consent to designate Delores Hudson as a Senate representative on the Student Services Committee.
SPECIAL ORDER: CONTINUED DIALOGUE ON DISTRICT/COLLEGE FUNCTIONAL MAP
Vice Chancellor Columbo distributed copies of the Functional Map and summarized its essentials, pointing out the ways in which it addresses accreditation standards and emphasizing its relevance in enabling efforts to clarify and streamline structures and functions.

Unanimous consent to adopt the institutional student learning outcomes statement from Kauai Community College included in the meeting packet.
Culinary Arts Program Approval
Unanimous consent to approve the proposal as noticed. The Senate expressed its appreciation to Ms. Parker and the Curriculum Committee for seeing the proposal through to approval.
Essential Skills Report
Ms. McMurray and Dean Humphreys drew the Senate's attention to the Essential Skills Report distributed by them, due for filing yesterday, accounting for a proposed expenditure of $114,000 for the coming year. Each element of the proposal was summarized.
Unanimous consent to suspend the rules to permit a vote on this proposal. Unanimous consent to approve the report and authorize the Senate president to sign it.
