Resolution Response to the President re Full Time Faculty Hiring
2006-2007.
After discussion, there was
unanimous consent to support the following resolution:
Whereas notices to
division/department chairs, members of the Faculty Hiring Priorities
Committee and the AFT were not issued, and
Whereas the President
has indicated a desire to hire four full time faculty for the Fall 2007
semester, and
Whereas The Nursing
Division was one of the positions the President skipped over in making
choices, and
Whereas the Nursing
Program’s accreditation will be seriously jeopardized if its full time
to part time faculty ratio is not increased,
The Harbor College
Academic Senate rejects the President’s intention to fill full time
faculty positions out of the order endorsed by the Academic Senate, and
The Harbor College
Academic Senate will proceed forthwith to form an Appeals Panel as
stipulated under the Policy and Procedures agreement governing the
Faculty Hiring Priorities and Senate’s responsibility to assure the
timely and orderly hiring of full time faculty.
The
Recording Secretary will begin the appeals process by forming a panel
per the Faculty Hiring Committee’s Procedures Manual.
