ITEMS/MOTIONS FOR NOTICED FOR ACTION MARCH 6
Program Review 'Plan of Action - Post-Validation' Forms
Ms. Watkins and Dr. Humphreys reminded the Senate of the essentials on which the Senate was briefed at the last meeting. Ms. McMurray suggested the addition of a check-off box for current unit plans. MSU (McMurray/Stanbery) to authorize that adjustment. After additional discussion, Mr. Humphreys suggested a box for validation team reports. Unanimous consent first to that adjustment, and then to adopt the forms as noticed at the last meeting with the adjustments authorized at this meeting [see attachment].
COMMENTS ON DISTRIBUTED REPORTS/NOTICES/COMMITTEE MINUTES
Middle College High School Advisory Committee
Ms. McMurray inquired about the status of the Gates grant. Ms. Guertin reported that the accreditation visitation team for the school was on campus last week.
Academic Affairs
Dr. Humphreys pointed out that Ms. Lane is the new SLO coordinator, and distributed a summary of the status of the SLO assesment process to date [see attachment], along with the draft assesment manual for those who had not as yet received it. He pointed out the apparent unavailability of course outlines supposedly updated to include SLOs. He, Ms. Lane, and Mr. McKenzie are working together to inventory which outlines still require updating, and developing a schedule for completing them. Dr. Humphreys emphasized that it is not enough to have specified SLOs; outcomes will have to have been measured and assessed by this fall. He and Ms. Lane are holding workshops for each division to provide division members with SLO assesment forms for each course and to orient them as to how the forms are to be completed. Ms. Lane assured senators that the process is fully doable and resonded to several inquiries. Courses outlines not archived must be updated; and Ms. Guertin warned divisions not to archive courses without realizing that reactivating them can take as long as authorizing new courses.
Work Environment/Facilities
Mr. Hernandez reported that the emergency preparedness subcommittee has been activated, and a training session will be scheduled for opening day in the fall.
