Senators were reminded that the following senators have been designated as representatives for the current evaluation term on evaluation committees in the following disciplines: Susan McMurray for Spanish; Pam Watkins for Nursing; Jane Pavlina for Chemistry; and Jim Stanbery for Psychology.
ITEMS/MOTIONS FOR ACTION OCTOBER 16
Faculty Moves to New Facilities
Unanimous consent to adopt the motion as noticed:
Resolved, That no faculty moves into new buildings be required before the end of finals this fall.
Senators observed that no moves should take place until essential electrical and other functions in the new buildings have been have been tested and are fully operative. Mr. Rosas guaranteed that, if new buildings are not ready for occupation until January, no moves will be required immediately prior to the new semester.
Essential Skills Action Plan
Unanimous consent to suspend the rules to permit the consideration of an essential skills action plan including funding not provided in the essential skills budget previously adopted. The consensus was that if the tutoring line item were restored to the current college budget, any tutoring funding provided in the action plan would meet legal requirements as 'supplementing' rather than 'supplanting' funding in the regular college budget. Unanimous consent to refer the item to the Senate Executive Committee for action.
