Meeting called to order at 9:15 am; J. Lee presiding.

 

1. Acceptance of Agenda

Accepted as presented.

 

2. Acceptance of minutes, 4/22/08

Accepted as presented.

 

3. Marketing Program Review

L. Spink distributed the Marketing Program Review, revised per the cluster meeting on 4/22/08. Discussion centered on:

 

  • Patterson to do regular podcasts to students, vcasts on web regularly

  • Shared Perspectives to be e-mailed in the future

  • Live videostream of graduation ceremony

  • Use of construction photos on college MySpace page

  • Committee formed for 60th Anniversary Events:

D. Humphreys

Tomlinson

M. Copeland

  • Employee Recognition Event, week before graduation

  • Faculty Retiree Luncheon, 6/4

  • Brochures, etc., to be brought to A. Tomlinson for approval on meeting guidelines

  • Admissions to do a step by step of the process on vcast

  • Proposed usage of possible million dollars from district, including Escalante Program, free books for one semester, Puente, SI, non-credit courses

  • Keep testimonials on the webpage current

  • Update still photos w/quotes on website

 

4. Unit Plan

The Unit Plan was distributed and discussed. B. Richards recommended a new template, to be done over the summer. The Staffing needs were revised:

1. Dean of Institutional Advancement (All goals); to include full-time Public Relations Specialist (3, 5, 7), head of the Foundation, Part-Time Alumni Director (4, 5), Research

2. Full-time Technician for the TV Studio for community and college programming (3, 5, 7)

3. Economic and Workforce Development Staff Person (title TBD) (4, 5)

 

5. Update on Website

Covered during discussion of Marketing Program Review

 

6. Update on web-based searchable schedule

The schedule is currently in PDF format, which is not efficient or user-friendly. Discussion of possible usage for million dollars from district. I Clarke will research and calculate costs, etc.

 

7. Discussion of college ILO assessment

  • The College ILO’s and assessment of those ILO’s were discussed. Discussion centered on:

  • Need to incorporate college ILO’s into documents and college culture.

  • Draft ILO outcomes need to be measurable and ongoing.

  • How the Cluster can measure ILO’s, especially those involved in instruction; the measurements may need to be indirect; the difficulty in relating ILO’s to non-instructional side of the house.

  • “Reading Across the Curriculum”: ILO chosen as first to concentrate on
