Adequate numbers were not present for a quorum.

 

Meeting called to order at 4:55.

 

I. Public Comment Time

II. Review of Minutes of 5/11/06

Unable to accept minutes.

 

III. /IV Update on Construction, Budget/Financials Review

Construction Sequence

Construction Status, 9/6/06

Mike provided the construction and renovation projects update, which included the theater light and sound package going out to bid shortly; status of the demolition of the Liberal Arts building; delays in the completion of the site utilities project due, among other things, to unforeseen infrastructure conflicts; the technology building should be under construction in January; the possibility of another bond measure; budget gap between planned and actual expenditures, and between planned projects and projects that will actually be able to be undertaken.

 

Major discussion points were:

 

· the difficulty of walking through campus, especially with regard to the fence on L Street and Figueroa Place, student safety and alternative pedestrian walkways (including the Grant Street tunnel).

· Campus parking; possible agreement with city lot

· the CPC Construction Planning Priorities Retreat, held on 8/29/06; there will be another discussion at the end of October to finalize priorities.

· Contractor issues

V. Report from District Oversight Committee (P. Zurbrugg):

The other colleges in the district are dealing with the same issues we are. Major discussion centered on contractor difficulties and DSA delays.
