About the Hall of Fame:
In 2006, the LAHC Foundation Board approved participating in the development of an annual celebration of champion athletes, teams, and coaches.
As the campus is being renovated and new buildings are going up, the final location of the physical “wall/hall” of fame is yet to be decided. But, the committee did not want to wait.
The committee is made up of former coaches Jim O’Brien, Floyd, Jim White, and LAHC Foundation Board members, Dave Gascon and Jim Stanbery, and former athlete Buddy Parks, Journalist, Steve Marconi, Dean of Student Affairs, Nina Malone and Foundation Director, Bonnie Easley. This dedicated committee has been meeting monthly to develop criteria for nomination and a method whereby contributions can be made.
Inaugural Event:The first, or inaugural Hall of Fame event took place on Friday, September 7, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. at Simon’s in San Pedro. The anticipated crowd of 200-250 former athletes, spouses, family and friends quickly mushroomed to 340 attendees.
The honorees also participated in the first football game in our new stadium on Saturday night, September 8, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. They were honored during half-time.
