Description: Introduces students to fundamentals of GIS, comparing analog and automated mapping, introducing cartographic principles, hardware/software elements of GIS, and specific applications of GIS technology. Terminology: data structures, sources, and accuracy of data; data acquisition, and input; working with spatial data bases; and spatial analysis will be introduced.
