Congratulations to Eric Medina for being named the
South Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
Seahawks' season ends on penalty kicks
The No. 8-seeded (Southern California Regionals) men's soccer team took No. 1 seed Golden West to the brink of elimination, forcing two overtimes before narrowly falling 5-4 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 tied score.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Eric Medina notched his 30th goal of the season off an assist by Gima Terrence early into the second period. Despite losing Gabrield Guevara and Jesus Fregoso to red cards, Harbor kept pace with the Rustlers before a game-winning penalty kick by Golden West ended the Seahawks' stellar season.
Harbor won its first five games on the year and managed to stay afloat in the postseason hunt with a fourth-place finish in the tough South Coast Conference, while disposing of conference rival El Camino in the first round of ther regional tournament.
Medina's record-setting year culminated in being named South Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, as he led the state in goals and points scored.
Along with Medina, five other Seahawks earned all-conference honors, with Brian Pautasso becoming a two-time First Team honoree.
Harbor will look to build upon a momentous season heading into 2013.
